Yesterday, Sony announced the successors to its CyberShot DSC-H2 and DSC-H5 cameras. The new DSC-H7 and DSC-H9 both feature an 8.1 megapixel sensor, mind-blowing 15x zoom, face detection technology, shutter speeds of up to 1/4000th of second and the Bionz processing engine from Sony's Alpha DSLR lineup.The H9 one ups its little sibling by offering a larger 3 inch flip up LCD and Sony's NightShot technology for after dark photo fun. Both cameras should be available in April for $400 to $480 respectively. My fiance has the DSC-H5 and it is an incredible camera. The pictures it takes are outstanding and feature wise, it gives you almost anything you could hope for with out having to move up to a DSLR. Coincidentally the H5 was going to be my next gadget purchase, but with the H9 just around the bend, it looks like I will be holding off.

It's a problem faced every day by iPod owners everywhere. You want to protect your shiny (and expensive) toy with a case but, you have to remove the case to dock your iPod to a speaker system or for syncing. SendStation, maker of all sort of cool iPod gadgetry, think they have a solution. The SendStation Dock Extender is the size of the iPod plug on the standard Apple USB cable (so it fits any case that lets you connect the USB cable) and raises the iPod so it will fit in any dock while still in its case. The dock extender also include a Universal Dock insert designed to take the stress off the connector that will work with almost any Apple dock and many third party accessories. The Dock Extender should be available in March of this year. Pricing has yet to be determined.

Well, the results are in. Nearly half of you think that we will be seeing a special edition Beatles iPod or iPhone. My own opinion is that Apple will announce  an iPhone-esque Video iPod which is in line with 29% of the respondents. I would like to take the time out and say to the one very optimistic person who thinks that his Steveness will announce that the next version on OS X will be able to run on any x86 hardware, "don't ever let anyone take your dreams away." Ultimately, though, we will all have to wait until Sunday to see how it will all go down. Full breakdown of poll results below, for those of you that are interested.
