The Music Gremlin MG-1000 is the ideal mp3 player for anyone who doesn't want (or isn't able) to use their PC to keep their player full of tunes. The MG-1000 is also great for people using Linux or other alternative operating systems that want to stay legal with their music downloads (who up until now haven't had any really good options). Why, you ask, do I make these incredible assertions of this mild mannered piece of consumer electronics? Because this Mp3 player is different, it includes wifi connectivity and uses all that wireless goodness access Music Gremlin's online music service. As a Linux user my self, this product really blows me away, because if I had a MG-1000, I wouldn't have to dual boot my desktop to make use of the iTunes Music store (or what ever random Plays for Sure service). With both ala carte and all you can eat pricing you can't really miss with the Music Gremlin MG-1000. (Unless of course you don't have access to wifi, then you are as they say boned, because you will have to use your PC to fill up the player, completely ignoring the player's one "super feature".) The $299 price tag may seem a little steep for a 8gb player, but I think the built in wifi makes the player worth it for those that need the stand aloneness of the MG-1000. Just a small note to all my Linux and Mac brethren: backing up individually purchased songs requires Windows XP, so the $15 all you can eat option seems like you best bet.
